If most of your mileage is the run down to Cardiff and back, an economy-biased map is usually the better call than chasing peak power. Smoother part-throttle response and fewer gear changes on the A470 make more difference than a bigger number on paper.

We read and store the factory file first and check the vehicle over before writing anything. That keeps the map reversible and means we aren’t tuning around a fault that was already there.

We also cover Treforest, Rhydyfelin, Church Village and Cilfynydd, plus the wider Rhondda Cynon Taf area. Bring the vehicle to our unit in Treorchy, or book a call-out and we’ll come to you.

FAQs

ECU remapping — common questions

Can you remap an automatic?

Usually yes, and on some vehicles the gearbox software can be adjusted alongside the engine map so the shifts suit the new torque delivery — worth having if you sit in A470 traffic. TODO(client): confirm which transmissions are supported.

Do I need to tell my insurer?

Yes. A remap is a modification and you must declare it to your insurer — not doing so can invalidate your policy. Most insurers will cover a declared remap; it’s a quick call worth making before you book.

Is it reversible?

Yes. We read and store your original factory file before writing anything, so your vehicle can be returned to standard.

Will it damage my engine?

A sensible, vehicle-appropriate map stays within the mechanical limits the engine was designed for. We check the vehicle’s health first and won’t tune a car that isn’t in a fit state for it.

Do you remove DPFs, EGRs or AdBlue systems?

No. Removing or disabling emissions equipment makes a vehicle illegal to use on UK roads and it will fail its MOT. We only carry out work that keeps your vehicle road-legal.
